THREE WAYS TO CONNECT METAL CLAY

METHOD 1

Joining wet to wet clay

  • Score and slip (cross hatching on both sides of clay, add water or clay paste and press together, forming a velcro connection.

  • In some cases you can skip score and slip and just add water, clay paste and apply pressure

  • I always add Clay Tack for extra strength

METHOD 2

Joining wet and dry clay

  • Use clay paste on dry clay and attach wet clay on top, always use pressure to strength connection, add water and more clay paste when needed

  • I always add Clay Tack for extra strength

METHOD 3

Fixing cracks and imperfections post fire

  • Use clay tack on fired pieces and attach additional wet clay on top, always use pressure to strength connection, and read directions on Clay Tack bottle for best results

  • Let dry and refiring, you can repreate this process as many times as need. Some color variation can happen when repeating this process in bronze
